Diploma of Paramedical Science

HLT51015

The Paramedical Services “Diploma of Paramedical Science” (HLT51015) is a nationally accredited qualification. Paramedics are considered the highest level of emergency medical technicians and respond to emergency dispatches and provide intermediate and advanced life support to the injured and ill while enroute to primary care centres or hospitals. Unlike basic EMTs, paramedics can administer intravenous medications and manage other complex emergency care procedures.

About the Diploma of Paramedical Science (HLT51015) course

Our Diploma of Paramedical Science (HLT51015) is presented via a Part-Time/Hybrid course, which combines online and in-person instruction in an extended and blended format.

The Paramedical Services Diploma course is divided into three phases: didactic (classroom), practical and clinical (in-house) and field internship (assigned to a Paramedical Services active ambulance unit).

This blended model program, while academically demanding, will allow students to continue to work whilst achieving the Diploma of Paramedical Science (HLT51015). The clinical and field internship rotations will take place Sydney NSW Australia and introduce the student to the Paramedical Services Work Injury Response Service (WIRS), sporting and special events, non-emergency patient transport (NEPT) and a raft of other primary response opportunities.

The Diploma Course will also incorporate the Nationally Recognised Qualification, Certificate IV in Health Care (HLT41115). This qualification will be issued to students at a specific time within the Diploma course once they have successfully completed certain components of the course. The benefit to receiving the Certificate IV in Health Care during the students Diploma Studies is that they will now be eligible to apply for employment as an Emergency Medical Technician with a variety of Private Organisations. Students can then continue on with the remainder of their studies whilst they are working within the pre hospital field.
