The Paramedical Services “Certificate IV in Health Care” is an entry level paramedic qualification which provides students with the first step to becoming a career Paramedic. The Certificate IV Health Care program introduces students to basic life support skills needed to work in the pre-hospital emergency environment as Basic Life Support (BLS) Emergency Medical Technician.
The Certificate IV in Health Care qualification is accredited with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and covers work involving delivery of limited direct client care in an emergency response context. The qualification focuses on work in the ambulance industry undertaken by volunteers or workers who provide a basic emergency response and transport role in areas such as mines rescue, fire and rescue services, patient transport officers and industrial paramedics and emergency medical technicians.
About the Certificate IV Health Care (HLT41115) course
The Paramedical Services Certificate IV in Health Care course provides students with the necessary skills and competencies to identify, assess and treat the clinical signs and symptoms of injured or ill patients. Students will be taught advance assessment techniques and gains skills in treatment, extrication and transportation. Paramedical Services provides a robust training methodology that blends, distant learning, didactic and practical sessions over 250 hours of intense study. The course covers such subjects as anatomy and physiology, CPR, Advanced Resuscitation, Pharmacology, Infection Control policies and procedures, Manage routine scene and promote public safety and Transport emergency and non-emergency patients.
The entry requirement for the Certificate IV in Health Care is a current recognized First Aid Certificate and a current Australian Driver’s License. You can enroll at the Paramedical Services School at any time. Face to face sessions running throughout the year.
The Paramedical Services Certificate IV in Health Care course is a mixed learning course by distant learning for pre and post assignments, face to face didactic sessions and practical scenario based learning. Students must complete this course within 6 - 12 months of commencement. Face to face sessions running throughout the year.

Paramedical Services guarantees to provide students with a dedicated work experience placement program. This placement program consists of ride along with our Work Injury Response Service (WIRS), non-emergency transport and special events and sporting fixtures and access to ongoing mentoring and senior paramedic support. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding and experience related to the prehospital and intrahospital transport services and have the opportunity to apply their learned skills in real life situations.
